The place
South Division’s independent shops, galleries, music businesses, and historic buildings give it a character people recognize. Residents live above and alongside the storefronts. Between Fulton and Wealthy, that existing life sits beside long vacancies, inactive windows, and gaps in everyday services.
What we examined
Rhize observed the same 80 storefronts on March 18, 2025, and September 14, 2026. The interactive map lets you explore storefront activity, uses, upper-floor uses, and changes between these two dates along South Division.
What changed
Active storefronts increased from 35 to 42, while vacant storefronts fell from 22 to 14 between March 18, 2025, and September 14, 2026. Explore both dates in the map to see the activity along the corridor.
What comes next
Continued improvements can help existing businesses thrive, make space for new activity, and strengthen everyday life along South Division.
Residents, business owners, property owners, and community partners can work together on welcoming windows, entrances, lighting, and the walks between destinations. Small improvements can make the corridor more comfortable and connected for the people who use it every day.
